Obscure: The Aftermath lives up to the original. But is that a good thing?

If one were to ask me to list off the games I thought just didn't need a sequel two games would glaringly stand out, Final Fantasy X, and Obscure. Final Fantasy X comes to mind because the experience concluded nicely, and attempting to expand could only end badly. And sure enough it did. Obscure, on the other hand, makes the list for the plain and simple fact that the first one was just not good enough to warrant another venture into Hydravision's world.

Yet here we stand with Obscure: The Aftermath ready to send us into another world of horror. But the question is, did Hydravision learn from their first game's pit falls? Why mince words? No, the second Obscure suffers from the same dated feel and gameplay shortcomings we experienced in the fist.

Uhm... missing something?

You play a group of college students who escaped the evil experiment of their diabolical teacher in the first game. It's been two years since the events of Obscure and the survivors have moved on with their lives. Shannon, the pretty girl, and Kenny, the smart kid, are now enrolled in the nearby Fallcreek University. Stan, the tough but dumb jock, is working as a pizza delivery boy. Both Stan and Kenny take medication to prevent the effects of the original evil from infecting their bodies, and possibly taking over.

A new drug created from a strange flower, that just happened to recently appear, is quickly spreading its influence over the University. The inevitable outbreak occurs and a small group of students, along with the Leafmore High survivors, have to face a horde of mutant flower zombies and find out the cause of the contagion.
