The love child of RPG and FPS

To rip a quote right from the pages of Wikipedia:

"Shadowrun is a cyberpunk-urban fantasy cross-genre role-playing game, set in the years 2050-2070 following a great cataclysm that has brought use of magic back to the world, just as it begins to embrace the marvels (and dangers) of technologies such as cyberspace, omnipresent computer networks, genetic engineering, and the merger of man and machine called cyberware. Despite its departure in some respects from the "mainstream" cyberpunk genre, Shadowrun is perhaps the best-known and most popular RPG for this genre."

Of course now you can throw that definition of the game right out the window, much to the chagrin of the RPG's many fans, as Shadowrun has been reborn on the Xbox 360 and PC as an ambitious new first person shooter.  The game's ambition comes in its subject matter; the combination of RPG and FPS elements and the fact that it is the first game designed with cross-platform play (360 and Windows Vista) in mind.

The troll is the only race that can carry the minigun without losing any speed in mobility.

As the Wikipedia description states, Shadowrun does indeed take place in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world in which ancient magic has re-emerged and is in common use.  The opening cinematic for the game states it best by showing some poor sap being sniped.  A perfect headshot puts him down in seconds and there's no doubt that he's dead.  Moments later, however, an elfen teammate swoops down on a glider and performs a magical resurrection on him.  The sniped dude is back up and back in the fight.  The rules of combat have indeed changed in Shadowrun.
