UEFA Champions League 2006-2007

Unfortunately the gameplay is nowhere near as interesting as the bit with the cards.  Defensive AI is buggy at best and will make some of the weirdest decisions imaginable in certain situations.  When playing against a human opponent this is not an issue, of course, but simply passing the ball or moving upfield presents a challenge.  It feels like the controls could have been tightened considerably before releasing this one on the world.

No, seriously, it was a catfish this long!

Graphically UEFA is no great accomplishment either.  The player models are just ugly and the game is presented in such a way that you practically have to squint to make out which guy has the ball and where your nearest eligible player is located.  These are things we hope that EA can fix when it creates the next FIFA game, just as we hope it will keep the Ultimate Team mode intact.

UEFA doesn't beat Winning Eleven or even FIFA for soccer goodness, but the Ultimate Team mode makes it worth a look for even a casual soccer fan.  If you win, however, please don't turn my car upside down.  I just have three payments left before that 1969 Ford Fairlane is all mine.

Highs
Ultimate Team mode is an absolute blast.

Lows
Gameplay basics like passing and shgooting leave something to be desired.

Final Verdict
Soccer fans awaiting their next FIFA or Winning Eleven fix may find some enjoyment in UEFA Champions League 2006-2007, and more casual gamers will enjoy Ultimate Team mode, but there is not much more to this one.
