Worth noting is that this isn't some condensed version of a previous PS2 title that is streamlined and retrofitted with a quick new plot. This is a full scale Metal Gear game, and although a bit shallow on the graphics and suffering from cramped controls, it still has some fantastic aspects to it.

The control scheme has been reformatted to accommodate the lone analog stick. The camera is controlled with the D-pad which can get a bit tricky while stalking your prey with your gun drawn. Nonetheless, using the tools the development team had at their disposal, it was done more or less very well. All of the game's controls become second nature by the end of the first or second mission and you find yourself stealthing along like nothing has changed.
Some new elements have been added, such as squad recruitment. In this new twist, the bad guys that you knock out with your tranquilizer gun are dragged off screen and after a 'waiting' period you are allowed to recruit them for your own uses. You can manage squads and NPC's, allowing them to follow you around in cardboard boxes and allowing you to take control of them to access areas of the map that would be unreachable to Snake.
