All aboard for a fairly entertaining trip with 'the' name in model trains. Just make sure 'mama' doesn't 'accidentally' get thrown from the passenger car.

You never get too old to play with trains.  The bazillion train enthusiasts out there in the world have proven that.  But not everyone has the time, space or ability to construct the kind of elaborate model cityscapes and countryside vistas you see on tv and train shows.  DSI games comes to the rescue with Lionel Trains: On Track, a train-sim featuring the most respected name in the world of model trains.

Back in the days before video games, a kid could get no better present than an Lionel HO-scale model train set as a present.  Add in a lot of extra track and some miniature houses and you’d just created Nirvana.  Lionel Trains: On Track does what no real model train set can, it gives you the chance to run your own train line to dozens of cities across the US and around the world, all in one neat little handheld package.  Choosing from different sections of the country, you can run lines between big cities, ship various types of cargo and make or lose money as you meet the various demands of the people in each town.

Ah. So Eastern Europe is compromised of Eastern European countries? It's all so clear now!

The nice thing about this sim is that you have a variety of different gameplay options.  Campaign mode let’s you build your train lines and work toward specific goals in a scenario.  You may have to deliver a certain type and number of items to a particular city or make a certain dollar amount in order to pass on to the next level of play.  Each city has a certain type of cargo that it’s known for and that city depends on other types of cargo to be brought in to meet the demands of it’s citizens and industries.

It’s not always easy to be successful in the railway business and if you are in the red for three years in a row it’s game over.  You have to carefully watch each cargo type and how it’s doing in the supply and demand section of the screen in order to keep your cash flow increasing.  You’ll also need to create cargo chains that link supplies to the correct city in order to produce products like furniture or cheese that can bring in big bucks if done correctly.  The Campaign mode will easily keep you entertained even though it can be a bit repetitive.
