If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just make it a hell of a lot bigger.
The original Disgaea had a lot going for it. It had a great sense of humor that translated to American audiences perfectly due to the excellent job of the localization team over at Nippon Ichi Software America, a superb storyline featuring some of the most memorable characters in recent memory, neat additions to the usual strategy RPG formula like geo panels and the ability to lift and throw other characters, multiple endings, and hundreds of hours worth of gameplay that continued long after the last boss was destroyed. For strategy RPG fans, Disgaea was one of the quintessential games within the genre.
Unfortunately, due to low expectations for the title, Disgaea saw only a limited release here in the states. Nowadays you can see used copies of the game being fought over on Ebay with prices going as high as 80 dollars! Luckily, for those who want to know what all of the buzz about Disgaea is without having to spend over 60 bucks for a three year old game, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories has finally arrived with new characters, expanded gameplay, and a black hole to suck away the hours of your life.
