Xbox Live Community Games Details

Set to turn “the hobby of game-making into a full-fledged career.”

Speaking during a keynote address at this year's Gamefest conference, Microsoft announced that it will be launching its newly-named Xbox Live Community Games service by the end of the year.

“Not only are we democratising game development with Xbox LIVE Community Games later this year, but we’re creating an opportunity for aspiring developers to start their careers on the world stage,” Satchell said.

“It is really a win for both developers and consumers because this will no doubt act as an incentive for game creators to continue to develop the best, most innovative games for Xbox 360.”

XNA Creators Club Premium members must submit their creations to the service for a “rigorous peer review.” Upon successful competition of said review, the game in question can then be sold on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Prices for games will range from 200 to 800 Microsoft Points depending on file size, with “up to 70 percent of the total revenue generated” given straight to the developer.

The full Xbox Live Community Games service is scheduled to live in the fall. You can find additional details on the XNA Creators Club website, here.
