Animal Crossing: City Folk promises extensive online features.
Nintendo today confirmed long-standing rumors that the Animal Crossing franchise would eventually make its way onto the Wii with the announcement of Animal Crossing: City Folk.
As well as the usual hallmarks of the series, City Folk promises a “living, breathing world” that sees days and seasons pass in real time, with various time-sensitive events and activities to boot.
Up to four players will be able to work together locally, and up to three additional players can be invited to explore a player's town via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Nintendo also announced the new WiiSpeak microphone peripheral, which will allow multiple Animal Crossing users to chat with friends over the internet without the need for individual headsets.
Animal Crossing: City Folk is currently scheduled to launch during the Holiday season of this year. For now you can hit up the thumbnails above this post for a look at some in-game screenshots.
