Wii Is For Girls Too

WarioWare: Smooth Moves: Even if you have the attention span of a goldfish, you will not want to put down this game. Just like its predecessors, this game will consist of dozens of mini games that are as short as a couple of seconds to complete. Sticking to the traditional WarioWare style of play, players can use the unique 20 abilities of the Wii Remote to chop barrels, turn levers, run races and more.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: When you can beat up Pikachu with Mario, you know you’ve got a one of a kind game on your hands. Super Smash Bros. Brawl will follow like the other games in the series by pitting Nintendo characters against each. Like the Hilander, there can only be one. A nice surprise is that Solid Snake from Metal Gear fame will be included in the roster.

Wii Channels

With games that can hook up just about anyone through the Wii, Nintendo has created an ingenious way to have people stay for more. The Wii Channels are part of the operating system interface for Wii. Designed around the concept of television channels, the Wii Menu is easily accessed through a user friendly interface. The channels allow you to personalize your Wii however you want.

Mii Channel: The Mii Channel allows users to create 3D caricatured portraits of themselves and can be used in a variety of Wii software. Your Mii portrait can go with you wherever you go since they can be stored in the Wiimote.

Photo Channel: Nothing says personalized like pictures. All you need is an SD memory card that can be inserted into the Wii and it will display your photos on the TV screen. There is also a photo editor that allows you to create mosaics, puzzles or slide shows and a whole lot more out of your pictures.

Shopping Channel: Shopping at home takes on a brand new facet. On this channel, users will be able to download classic video games that were originally on the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and NEC TurboGrafx. Users can buy Wii Points with a credit card to download the games. Users can also buy points to download the Opera browser used for the Internet Channel, although this will be free in most regions for the first few months.

Virtual Console: So you’ve just downloaded Super Mario and now you need something to play it on. That’s where the Virtual Console steps in. Each game will appear in the Wii Channel Menu as its own Virtual Console Channel. To play the game, users simply select the game's channel.

Internet Channel: This channel allows you to surf the web from the comfort of your couch using the Opera browser. Now you can hurry and look up Lost conspiracies during commercial breaks and not miss a thing.

Wii Message Board: Need to leave a message? Forget about Post Its, the Wii allows users to leave messages on a calendar based message board. Users can also use WiiConnect24 to send messages to people outside the home, and can even send photos and text messages with cell phone users.

Nintendo’s attempt to attract a wider audience has resulted in them expanding into more people friendly games. For the non gamer girl, this is perfect because it means that there are plenty of games they can play without having to commit to hours of leveling up and the hardcore girl gamer will love everything else about the Wii. Of course not every girl is the same, but Nintendo is gambling that having such a broad range will profit them the most.
