Wii Is For Girls Too

Home : Games : Articles

A look at what makes the Wii girl friendly, from a female gamer's perspective.

There are two types of women in the world: Women that play video games and women that don’t. In the latest installment of the console wars, Nintendo is reaching out to both groups to prove they have something for everyone. So how girl friendly is the Wii? A lot, surprisingly enough.

Every woman knows that size matters. And consoles are no exception to this rule. At the petite size of 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than 2 inches thick, the Wii is the smallest home console to date. It can fit practically anywhere without taking up too much space. The design of the Wii can be described in one word: Astrosexy. It’s sleek and will definitely compliment any place it resides.

The design isn’t the only thing that makes the Wii appealing to women. As with any outfit, accessories are a definite must have. And like all things in life, it’s always better to get a two for one. The Wiimote serves this function perfectly. And since it's wireless, you don’t have to worry about the inevitable tangled mess when playing with more than one controller. An accessory to the Wiimote is the Nunchuck. Perfect for guiding characters or camera angles and connects to the Wiimote.

The features on the Wiimote and the Nunchuck are fine and dandy to titillate the average gamer but why would a nongamer care about the Wii? Well there are plenty of games that will cater to the casual girl’s fancy as well as the hard core gamer.

Games That Appeal To Girls

Trauma Center: Second Opinion: This is the sequel to the popular DS game Trauma Center: Under the Knife. This is one game of doctor that won’t result with a hand up your skirt. The game is like the old school game Operation, to the extreme. Stitch up patients, do surgery or revive them with the newly added defibrillator action. The controls have been redone for the Wiimote. An example of this is that if you have to use the tweezers, you have to push the buttons in such a way that it replicates the motion of using real tweezers.

Big Brain Academy: This game gives you a reason to be happy if someone calls you fat. In Big Brain Academy, tests are done in order to measure your brain’s weight. The heavier the brain, the smarter the brain is. There are three classes of gameplay: Test mode to determine your brain weight, practice mode to train the brain and versus mode to compete against two to eight players to see whose brain is heaviest.
